Rocky Football
Coaching Philosophy
The primary goal of the Rocky Mountain Football Program is to build better people first and better players second. We believe that our program is an extension of the classroom and that athletics are one of the best avenues to shape our students into becoming great leaders, workers, mentors, and family members when they leave our building.
Excellence is not something we want our student athletes to strive to achieve part of the time, it is something they should strive for all of the time. The three pillars in our program will guide us in this pursuit of excellence:
In all aspects of their lives, on and off the field, in the hallways, in their home, and in their community we will push them to be at their best in everything they do.
On the field, we want our players to strive to play as hard as humanly possible for their teammates and the program. Always putting the team ahead of themselves, and learning the closer they are as a team the harder it will be for them to be beat. We want them to relish the physical side of football and always want to compete against the best competition available.
By and large games are not won on Friday nights, they are won in the offseason and how we practice Monday through Thursday. Because of this, we will train accordingly for both their safety and their performance. For any athlete at Rocky Mountain High School, from an athletic standpoint, the weight room is the most important room in our building. We will push them to train year round in order for them to be at their absolute best from a physical standpoint in order to play physical football.
We believe in prioritizing the fundamentals of the game and running practices that are fast paced and built for high repetition. Discipline and leadership will be highly stressed in our program. We believe that every player should understand that discipline is an athlete's best friend and not their enemy. Leadership development is critical to the success of any organization, and we will continue to remind, emphasize, and build program wide leadership.
Our staff will work to help increase a love and passion for the game of football that is contagious and rubs off on everyone who is part of the program. As coaches we will prioritize and reward outstanding effort in our offseason workouts, the classroom, multi-sport participation, school spirit, and service through our UNCOMMON program and other awards.
Rocky Mountain Football is one program that plays on different nights of the week, and values each athlete regardless of the level they play or the amount of playing time they earn. We are firmly committed to making their time with us one of the best experiences possible.
